I need help, ladies!! First off, I have to say that I, personally, love Singapore Math! My kiddos (DD10&DS8.5) have been using Primary Math Standards Edition since we pulled them from public school in 2008. My son is 3rd grade age this fall, & seems to be having no real issues with math. (Handwriting is a completely different story, though! LOL) But, my daughter is 5th grade age & has always hated math &, therefore, throws attitude at me every time we pull out the books, thereby putting me on edge &...well, you get the idea.
I love Singapore because of how advanced it is, the order in which the concepts are introduced, and how much review is involved. Oh, how I wish that Teaching Textbooks was just the CDROM version of Singapore.
We got on the computer yesterday & tried some of the TT5 sample lessons with both kiddos. My son=indifferent. ("Sure, it's great. Yeah.") My daughter=GIDDY!! ("Mom, this ROCKS! Can I do another lesson?" and then three hours later "Mom, when it's my turn on the computer again, can I do that Math thing I did this morning?!? PLEAAASE??" So that's good, right?
My question is...really more of a statement, I guess. I should switch, right? I'm holding onto Singapore because it's international standard math and not because it's working for my children, right? It seems all the reviews I've read on TT are glowing (except that it's "easy" & I'm worried about that). Just wanted to get your opinions...
Thanks, Shay
